Code
Blue Bluegrass Band - Memories of Home - Cimirron/Rainbird Records C/RR-033-CD.
From the shores of eastern VA, comes the Code Blue Bluegrass Band with an impressive
collection consisting of a dozen performances. "Memories of Home" is
the band's debut recording, and by every account, a successful undertaking. Mandolinist
E. T. Firth contributes a trio of superbly crafted melodies, "Crash Course,"
"One Good Lie," and "She's Gone," while banjoist Michael Beaver
provides the title song. Other selections are "High On A Hilltop," "Tennessee
Blues," and "A Good Man Like Me." There is a poignant interpretation
of the late Jimmie Davis' "Sheltered In The Arms Of God." Code Blue
Bluegrass Band has created a minor masterpiece of delicately crafted bluegrass,
and they are one group that certainly bears close scrutiny in future endevors.
